maybe the unions should get ready to make an offer to buy the assets in bankruptcy and run their own company, or buy up closed plants and start their own manufacturing system. Then they will soon find out just what their high wages and benefits have cost them in lost jobs. It isn't just the high salaries of the top execs or poor design engineering or marketing that have caused the downfall of the American auto industry. Honda is a good example of good wages and benefits with a solid US workforce in OH and other states where they have built facilities. They are the first auto manufacturer to introduce NG and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.....even though they are pretty much limited to parts of CA right now. They have always been leaders in innovations in the auto industry. Ford has come the closest to showing any real US innovation in design and they are still far behind the Japanese. I'd buy American IF we still produced a quality product at a reasonable price and backed it with a good warranty that would be fully honored without challenge. And that goes for all products sold in the USA, not just autos......we have destroyed our own production as we demand cheap goods but want high wages for what we produce.....if we can't buy our own products on the wages we make, how do we expect to be able to also export the products to countries where people make even less than we do. So we willingly buy the cheap goods made in our company's factories in the low wage countries. The never ending chicken/egg or horse/cart circle.
