wow, nice headline on bloomberg.com......waiting to see what the story actually has to say. I guess there has been one good advantage to this economic mess......at least we are finally getting our trade balance back in order as a result of our hunger for more having to be stifled by the lack of money to pay for those things we really don't need. Let's hope that when we come out of this crisis, we all have learned to live a little more within our means. We have used up enough of the world's resources in the past two decades to last us for at least another 6. Time to cut back a LOT, not just a little. Back to the Basics, as we used to say many years ago. Just as our education system needs to go back to the basics first before we try to cover the unknown, so does our lifestyle. Why do we need all of these high-tech devices we keep developing? Kids can't even add, subtract, multiply (except in producing more kids), or divide without the use of a computer. They can't make change. They can't communicate. They have little or no grasp of the English language any more. Parents plop them down in front of their electronic gadgets instead of taking the time to raise them on their own.
I know, you're going to say "we have to spend our time working to pay for what our kids need." Well, do the kids really need everything they think they need? That $150 pair of tennies or jeans. That cell phone with its text messaging feature? Their own phone line at home (oops maybe they don't have that anymore now that they have the cell phone.)
Now IF we can just get our American companies to return their call centers, etc. back to the US instead of farming everything out in India or other third world countries, we might finally be able to have jobs for our own citizens. Oops, I forgot......we don't want to work for a wage that can sustain the business here....that's why the company farmed things overseas. We're too good for the jobs that companies now hire the illegals to do. "That job is too hard....that job is too menial....that job is too dirty......that job doesn't pay enough"....just some of the many excuses I hear all the time from people who won't even try to apply for those jobs the illegals are working at.
